Dr. Ir. Cheong Kam Hoong

Dr. Ir. Cheong Kam Hoong is the Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF) Ambassador for the Asia-Pacific Region. Established in 2010, GSGF is a non-profit, global stakeholder organization committed to creating smarter, cleaner electrical systems around the world. GSGF is comprised of national smart grid associations, forward looking utilities and think tanks from around the globe. GSGF works closely with International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN), a forum for energy and environment ministers and stakeholders from 23 countries and the European Union to accelerate the development and deployment of smarter, cleaner electricity grids worldwide. 

Dr. Ir. Cheong Kam Hoong has more than 30 years of experience in the power utility industry (TNB, which is the largest power utility in Malaysia) and 4 years as an academician. He has vast experience in the planning, operation and maintenance of the power distribution system. His last position in TNB was the Managing Director of TNB Research, responsible to spearheading and managing various research programs to meet the needs of TNB as well as the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) and the nation’s aspiration towards a greener and more sustainable development including smart grid. He is currently an Industry Advisor of University Tunku Abdul Rahman.
